The aim of this e-seminar is to assist the EU funded on-going projects and initiatives in their efforts towards the promotion of sustainable water management policies and practices, including the uptake and replication of results and solutions proposed.

To do so some of the key features and achievements of GLOWASIS project) will be presented. GLOWASIS aims to pre-validate a GMES Global Service for Water Scarcity Information. It has set up as a one-stop-shop for water scarcity information, in which focus is put on:
 · Improve seasonal forecasting (EO, in-situ, model-based data);
 · Create awareness for the complexity of water scarcity and drought;
 · Deliver open data on drought and water scarcity

SCARCE, is a Spanish funded project which is a multipurpose project that aims to describe and predict the relevance of global change impacts on water availability, water quality and ecosystem services in Mediterranean river basins of the Iberian Peninsula, as well as their impacts on the human society and economy.

Finally, PRACTICE FP7 project has developed IaPRO, he PRACTICE Integrated Assessment protocol, IAPro. An integrated method for the assessment of prevention and restoration practices will be developed, and will provide the basis for evaluating a wide diversity of actions to combat desertification, in a wide range of socio-economic, biophysical, and technical conditions. IAPro, is a methodology for the assessment of management actions in drylands and, in particular, for the assessment of actions to combat desertification. IAPro is a multi‐step participatory protocol aimed at promoting knowledge exchange and social learning in the assessment process.

A discussion and brainstorming session will follow with the contribution of other EU-funded water projects and pertinent initiatives, focusing on the wide dissemination and sustainability of the results achieved. The outcomes of the e-seminar are also expected to improve the design of future water projects planned and implemented in the Region.
