The Budapest Water Summit (BWS) is going to be a milestone in the process launched at the "Rio+20" conference with the aim of defining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the international community to replace the Millennium Development Goals upon their expiration in 2015. The BWS will contribute to the evolution and definition of goals related to access to safe water and sanitation. The Summit will be have several forums running in parallel ; business, civil society, science, youth and a philanthropy round table.
The BWS will address five topics in five consecutive sessions. These are :
- Striving for universal access to water and sanitation
- Integrated water resources management for the 21st century
- Good water governance :
- Green economy for blue water
- Financing the implementation of water and sanitation SDGs
