Through experience sharing between professionals of both countries on subjects identified by Lao partners, it aimed at supporting the public policy in the field of sustainable development through the implementation of integrated water resources management (IWRM).

The 6Th Phase of the project focuses on transferring the tools, document and methods initiated during the previous phase to the DWR-MONR through the 3 components:

  • Institutional cooperation with the finalization of the technical dialogue on e-flow and support to the preparation of another technical guideline, based on the need of DWR to be identified during the phase.
  • Development of the Water Information System LaoWIS with the improvement of information sharing through website, design and tools, enhancement of data exchanges with other sectors and line agencies, better appropritation of the system through trainings, manuals and guidelines.
  • Support to the pilot activities of basin planning, in the Nam Sa basin with the transition from the basin plan to a program of measures and its implementation and the promotion of projects in Nam Sa and Nam Ngum pilot basins to support the plans’ implementation.
