This webinar is jointly organized by the European Centre for River Restoration (ECRR) and INBO on June 27, 2023. It celebrates the publication of a study on the development and current status of 8 national river continuity policies from Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Lithuania, Norway, Slovakia and Spain. The following aspects of the study’s findings will be presented and discussed:

  • completeness,
  • administrative structure,
  • prioritization method,
  • stakeholder involvement,
  • financing,
  • policy monitoring and evaluation.

The EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030 requires comprehensive policies and effective implementation to protect nature and restore ecosystems.

Representatives from the countries involved in the study will discuss the findings, and representatives from the European Horizon 2020 projects MERLIN and Danube4All, which aim to apply nature-based solutions in future water management, will present how the results of the policy study are being used in their work.
