The ” EURO-INBO ” Group of European basin organisations for the implementation of the European Water Directives was created in 2003 in Valencia (Spain), as a regional component of the International Network of Basin Organisations (INBO).
The permanent technical secretariat of EURO-INBO is provided by the International Office for Water (OiEau).
It brings together 200 members from all over Europe with one main objective: to improve the implementation of water policies in Europe, and in particular the Common Implementation Strategy (CIS) of the Water Framework Directive, in the Member States of the European Union.
EURO-INBO organises the sharing of practical experience on the ground between its members in order to promote and disseminate the principles and tools of the European water directives and to support their implementation throughout the European Union (including its overseas territories), in interested candidate or neighbouring countries in the Balkans, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia and in the Mediterranean region.
The exchange of experience and discussions on basin management organised by EURO-INBO also cover these interested neighbouring countries and regions through the regional networks associated with INBO.
The “Euro-INBO” Group organises annual general meetings.
