« Thanks to its configuration, INBO is an organisation that can ‘boost’ water resource management in African countries, through the expertise it can provide, through the information that the Network can have on the problems and different developments in water resource management, including the search for funding.

« River basin management is essential because it enables an integrated approach to be taken to the various uses of water in a well-defined area. In this way, the various stakeholders can be brought together each time a new river management plan is drawn up for a given basin.
It is this form of inclusive governance that has at least prevented a further deterioration in the state of water to date, within the borders of the European Union, but it does not prevent major obstacles from persisting. »

« What I find very interesting is that INBO is a network of players. So there are no major political issues at stake. People take part to share their experiences, their questions, their findings and the tools they have created. So anyone can develop their knowledge in this network. During the various round tables at the Conferences, I think that INBO should address and give even greater prominence to the social and economic dimensions of water management at basin level. These dimensions need to be made even more visible. Scientists should not be ashamed to talk about these aspects, because science is done with human beings! »

« INBO has done what is essential for water management, which is to bring together diverse knowledge about water resources, in line with European Directives and their legal applications. INBO members put into practice and promote integrated resource management at a strategic scale, that of the river basin. Hydrological, hydraulic, scientific and legal considerations, for example, are combined across the board.
In addition, INBO encourages the organisation, networking and cooperation of several stakeholders in the same country and on an international scale. It is vital to maintain the basic concept of river basin management. »
